Registration opens for the 2016 Pleasanton Run for Education

Thousands expected to walk/run in April 17 event at Fairgrounds

Registration for the 2016 Pleasanton Run for Education is now open.

The annual event will be held Sunday, April 17, with runners having a choice of 5K, 10K or 15K distances. For the younger runners, there are two Kids' Challenge courses: 1/2K and 1K.

Runners who register for the event before March 14 will receive a 20% discount off their entry. Runners can register online at www.ppierun.org/

In its 4th year, the Pleasanton Run continues to be a popular race and fundraising event with 75% of participants coming from the students, families and teachers in the Pleasanton School District.

Last year's event had over 2,500 runners and raised more than

$97,000 for Pleasanton schools and students.

The event, which It includes an Awards Ceremony and Family Fitness Expo, also provides support for Pleasanton Partnership in Education (PPIE).
