A kitchen fire at a home in Livermore New Year’s Day displaced a family of four.

Firefighters with the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department responded at 2:59 p.m. to a residence on Wimbledon Lane on a report of a kitchen fire.

Responding firefighters arrived at the residence to find it heavily involved in fire.

Crews were able to contain fire, but half the residence was destroyed by the blaze, firefighters said. Other areas of the home sustained heavy smoke damage.

Three cats were killed in the blaze, according to the fire department.

One firefighter was transported to the hospital for injuries suffered while fighting the fire. The firefighter has since been released from the hospital.

  1. … because cats’ lives matter? Do I win, or will you just shake your angry fist at the world and head back under the bridge?

I don’t usually favor comments that say “get a life,” but in this case I think maybe you could use nine of them.

  2. I am staff to no cats, but I admire them very much as a species.

Indeed, the average feline is Much better at being a cat than the average person is at being human. Culture provides a refuge for mediocrity. I would point to comments 1 and 3 above as pretty good evidence for my claim.
