Fill the Boot campaign generates awareness, raises funds for national association

Local firefighters will be back at it today collecting money from passing drivers during the Fill the Boot campaign, aimed at generating awareness about the Muscular Dystrophy Association and raising funds for the cause.

The Livermore-Pleasanton International Association of Firefighters, Local 1974 have two collection dates set this month: Monday at the corner of Bernal and Valley avenues in Pleasanton and Aug. 25 at First Street and Las Positas Road in Livermore (both from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.).

The firefighters union collected more than $18,400 last year to help children living with muscular dystrophy.
