Lynnewood Methodist to host Filipino service today

Music, liturgy will represent Filipino culture

Lynnewood United Methodist Church in Pleasanton will feature a Filipino Christian worship this morning with a Filipino choir and an after church Filipino brunch.

The Rev. Heather Leslie Hammer, church pastor, said the congregation is becoming increasingly ethnically diverse. The United Methodist Church is active and growing in the Philippines, so it is natural for Filipino people when they move to the Tri-Valley to find a home at Lynnewood United, which serves Pleasanton, Dublin and San Ramon.

Today's service, which begins at 9:30 a.m., will include music and liturgy representing Filipino culture. Though the program will be mainly conducted in English, there will be songs, a reading and a prayer in Tagalog.

Angelina Manalili will conduct a Filipino choir, and a brunch will be served after worship that will include Filipino dishes.

Lynnewood United is located at 4444 Black Ave., directly across the street from the Dolores Bengtson Aquatic Center.
