New director named to Alameda County Fair board

Rose Johnson leads Davis Street Family Resource Center in San Leandro

Rose Johnson, a Pleasanton resident and chief executive officer of the Davis Street Family Resource Center in San Leandro since 1991, has been selected to serve on the board of the Alameda County Agricultural Fair Association.

In addition to her work with the Davis Street center, Johnson is active with the San Leandro Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club and CAPPA, a statewide child development advocacy organization.

"Rose brings a commitment to the community and is an innovative leader," said Richard Sealana, president of the Fair board,. "She will be an asset to the board and the Fair community."

As one of the largest non-profit organizations in Northern California, the Fair Association's 26 board members oversee the operations of the Alameda County Fairgrounds, which attracts over three million visitors each year.

"I am delighted to join this dynamic and dedicated board of directors as they re-envision a new Alameda County Fairgrounds that recognizes the successful history of our annual fair," Johnson said.

"I am ready to roll up my sleeves and lend all of my skills and experiences to make the Fairgrounds a venue that is economically sound, jam-packed with year-round activities, and able to showcase all that's great about Alameda County," she added.

Hopefully since Rose is a resident of Pleasanton she will be able to tone down the volume of the Persian New Year NowRoz festival. Congratulations on your new position Rose.

I walked around the fair on july 7.pulled my shirt up a bit showing my belly. because it was hot.told by securty it was inappropriate and told me to pull it down.because of fair managers rules.i feel there is sexism going on and everyone deserves equal rights.and shouldnt violate my rights based on one persons sexist opinion.
