Interviews today for 5 seeking Las Positas College board seat

Selected candidate will fill position vacated by former Trustee Barbara Mertes

The Chabot-Las Positas Community College District board of trustees will interview five applicants today who are interested in filling the board seat vacated by former Trustee Barbara F. Mertes.

The candidates will be interviewed in an open session beginning at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Community College district board room, located on the third floor of the district's headquarters at 7600 Dublin Blvd.,Dublin:

The candidates, in alphabetical order, are:

J. Michael Balero, mortgage advisor;

William Macedo, retired maintenance and construction manager;

Donald L. Milanese, retired community college administrator;

Cynthia Ross, retired community college faculty member; and,

Todd Storti, recycling operations/general manager.

Following the interviews, the board hopes to decide on a candidate and appoint that individual to the board. The new board member would then be installed at the board's regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 17.

The Chabot-Las Positas Community College District includes Las Positas College in Livermore and Chabot College in Hayward.
