Foothill cheer teams rank high at SoCal competitions

Teams competed against more than 10 cheer teams

Foothill High School's competition cheer teams placed in the top ranking last weekend at the United Spirit Association (USA) regional competitions in Southern California.

The competitions were held at Yorba Linda and Brea Olinda high schools.

Foothill's varsity cheer team placed first at both events, where they competed against a total of 13 other teams in the Varsity Show Cheer Intermediate category.

The junior varsity cheer team placed first at Brea Olinda and second at Yorba Linda -- competing against a total of 10 teams.

According to varsity cheer coach Kim DeJoy, both teams competed against strong competitors whom they will compete against during the national competition in March.

Foothill cheer teams are now preparing for the CheerPros State Championship competition on Jan. 25 in Ontario.
