Livermore man arrested following New Year's Day fatal crash

A 20-year-old Livermore man was arrested Thursday morning on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence for a crash that killed a passenger in his car on Interstate Highway 580 in Oakland, said California Highway Patrol.

Travis Maresca was arrested after the crash reported around 3:20 a.m. on eastbound Highway 580 near High Street, CHP officials said.

Officers found a 2009 Toyota Scion that had crashed into a pole and came to rest blocking the MacArthur Boulevard/High Street on-ramp to eastbound Highway 580, according to CHP.

The female passenger, who was pronounced dead at the scene, was not identified Thursday.

On Friday, CHP officials identified 20-year-old Kayla Turner, of San Jose, as the crash victim.
