Northbound lanes of Vasco Road re-opened after fatal crash

Dodge Caravan, diesel truck collided

All northbound lanes on Vasco Road have been re-opened after a fatal vehicle crash earlier this morning, according to a California Highway Patrol officer.

At approximately 1:15 a.m., CHP was dispatched to Vasco Road at Los Vaqueros Road on report of an overturned vehicle lying on the side of the roadway, CHP Officer Ralph Caggiano said.

Caggiano said it seems that a 2007 Dodge Caravan and a diesel truck collided. It is unclear how many cars or individuals were involved, he said.

A tow truck was called to remove the Dodge Caravan from the collision site and a victim was pronounced dead on the scene, Caggiano said. There is currently no indication as to the cause of the accident, he added.

Northbound lanes on Vasco Road were shut down from just after 1 a.m. until about 4 a.m., and CHP units closed the entrance at Dalton Avenue, which is more than three miles south of Los Vaqueros Road. Southbound traffic was not interrupted, Caggiano said.
