The Pleasanton school board will hold a special meeting starting at 9 a.m. this morning to discuss governance -- how the board is run -- and to get information from an expert on possible conflicts of interest.
The scheduled four-hour-long meeting will take place in the school district's board room at 4665 Bernal Ave.
The board has also scheduled its annual reorganizational meeting at 7 p.m. next Tuesday.
Part of the reasons for the conflicts of interest discussion centers on a board member's concern over newly elected board member Jeff Bowser, whose wife works as a teacher in the district. Bowser said during his campaign that he would recuse himself from any vote that could potentially show a conflict between his (and his wife's) interest and the district's.
At Tuesday's meeting, Bowser and Joan Laursen, who also won election to the board in November, will be sworn in, and the board will select a new president and clerk.
Both meetings are open to the public.
