Livermore police ask for help in finding boy who attacked, injured elderly woman

Beating occurred after school as victim walked near L Street, Arroyo Road

Police are asking for the community's help identifying a juvenile suspected of beating an 89-year-old woman Tuesday on a walking path, according to the Livermore Police Department.

The victim was walking near Arroyo Mocho Creek at Arroyo Road and L Street at about 3:45 p.m. when the suspect approached and started walking with her.

The suspect, who described himself as a seventh-grader named Cameron, then told the woman he wanted to show her something off the path, according to police.

The victim followed the suspect, who then struck the woman in the head with an unknown object, according to police. The suspect continued to strike the victim repeatedly as she lay on the ground, according to police.

A passerby heard the victim yelling for help and immediately came to her aid. The suspect fled the area on a non-motorized scooter, according to police.

The woman sustained a head injury and was transported to the hospital. She was treated and released Wednesday morning, according to police.

The suspect is described as a white male about 13 years old with brown, wavy, short hair and a thin build. He was wearing tan shorts and a gray or blue shirt, according to police.

Anyone with information should contact Livermore Police Lt. Ava Garavatti at (925) 371-4730.

Much more than tragic...It's too bad he wasn't grabbed...a few baseball bat swings to the ribs and knee caps would have been appropriate. Then call the police and let them do them thing.

Julia your baseball bat comment makes me sick. You are suggesting dealing with things just like BART Police? They'll be in Livermore soon enough. Plus who wanders around with a baseball bat- which is considered a weapon, unless a glove, and ball are included.
