Livermore mother held on $4.3-million bail on sex charges involving underage boys

42-year-old dentist's wife scheduled to enter plea on 67 felony charges Monday in Pleasanton court

A woman arrested last Thursday for having sex with two boys is expected to enter a plea Monday in Alameda County Superior Court in Pleasanton on 67 felony charges.

Christine Shreeve Hubbs, 42, a Livermore mother, is being held in Santa Rita Jail on $4.3 million bail. She is accused of sexual assaults on two boys which police said began in December 2008 and continued since then, police said.

She began making advances on one of the boys when he was 14 and dating her daughter, also 14, officials said.

The charges include counts of oral copulation, lewd acts on a child, and exhibition of lewd material to a minor.

Hubbs allegedly sent messages and nude pictures of herself to the boys from her cell phone. After contacting the victims, she would then allegedly drive them in her black 2006 Hummer H2 to different locations in Livermore and have sex with them, police said.

She also faces charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor; police allege she let a group of boys shoot a plastic pellet gun from her car, Livermore police Lt. Matt Sarsfield said. Court records show Hubbs drove boys, ages 9-14 around Livermore on June 29, hitting speeds of up to 60 mph. The boys shot Airsoft guns -- purchased for them by Hubbs -- and hit a youngster on a bicycle, according to court records, which also say Hubbs did nothing to stop them.

That information came to police attention while investigating the alleged sexual assaults by Hubbs. No one was seriously injured by the plastic pellets, and Sarsfield said none of the boys in the car has come forward as a victim in the sexual assault case.

Hubbs has been married for about 20 years to her husband Timothy, a dentist, and has three children, according to her Facebook and MySpace pages. More than half of the 36 friends on MySpace have pages displaying ages 18 or younger.

Hubbs' Facebook page says she works in the dental office and that she "taxi(s) kids around after school."

Police began their investigation into sexual assault charges after receiving a tip from someone connected to Hubbs. Both victims are cooperating with the investigation, Sarsfield said. The first victim was contacted after police received the tip. The second victim came forward voluntarily a few days later, he said.

Police say Hubbs provided the victims with Visa gift cards, dinners at restaurants and video game consoles.

Hubbs hired a lawyer last week after learning of the investigation, Sarsfield said.

At last an answer from the PW!
For the record Jeb, this is how you should have handled it from the beginning, not just erasing the entire thread then putting it back to avoid looking even worse. Editing for content is fine as long as you are editing for legal reasons not moral ones. Few of us choose to register just so that you can out us at a later time when our views annoy you.
The fact is that when a man did this you were fine with endless comments. Why should a woman be protected for the having done the same thing?

While this is totally off subject, shooting airsoft guns out of moving vehicles is extremely reckless and extremely illegal. have some commons sense. save airsoft for the airsoft field and don't have sex with people until they are old enough to give consent.

This sounds a lot like a woman that was out of control. Her behavior was wreckless and self-destructive and will leave scars on herself, her husband, her children, and her victims for a long long time.

I think that she should not be treated differently than if she was a man and commited the same crimes.

Also, using airsoft guns to shoot from a moving car is very dangerous. I play airsoft myself and don't like to see anything that could reflect negatively on my sport. Airsoft teaches responsibility, teamwork, and gun safety when played the correct way and basic safety guidelines are followed like the ones listed here: Web Link

I am quite curious about her status and the process. Sorry for all these questions below...but if anyone who has a legal background could shed light on the following, I'd appreciate it.

Does anyone know what her current status is?
What was the outcome after her arraignment?
What is the next step?
Is she out on bail?
If not, how long is she in jail until her next step in the process?
What is the worse-case scenario for her if she is found guilty on all charges?

Yes, If she was in a manic episode she should be treated differently. She needs to be evaluated, put on meds, and stabilized. All these stupid, ignorant, judgemental commenters may someday have a loved one who is UNdisgnosed bipolar (euphemsim for manic-depression). Her speeding around and other behaviors, combined, point towed manic behavior. Maybe a lynch mob, which is what most of you XXXX are, will pile on one in your family.
The males are fine ! With creeps like you on the loose, I pity her children and husband.

Thanks for the response PW.

With that said, there is an obvious double standard (and censorship of the readers) that I find troubling, and it begs the question - Why? To me, a suspect is a suspect is a suspect. What is the difference in this case?

In previous cases the PW staff would edit/delete portions of people's posts that were hearsay, etc. I would hope the media (the PW) would be an objective like you guys seem to be in other hot stories (other sex crimes, suicides, etc). In those cases I was more then happy to back up your guy's actions, but this one I am not able to do so far. It reeks as something fishy going on, and you don't want to lose the trust of your loyal readers. Don't forget the journalism code of ethics ( Web Link ) - right now I'm these jump out:

"— Avoid conflicts of interest, real or perceived.
— Remain free of associations and activities that may compromise integrity or damage credibility"

I think so far several mistakes have been made in dealing with this story, but you guys have an opportunity to right the ship if you keep the comment section on all stories open. Removing hearsay or other inappropriate comments one by one is appropriate though.
