Team brings home the gold

Debbie Ayres, coach of the USA Under-21 Women's Deaf Basketball Team, proudly announced that her team brought home the gold from the 2010 Deaf World Basketball Championships in Lublin, Poland, late last month.

Her players were each presented with a gold medal plus a huge trophy that she's toting around Pleasanton.

Alexandria Brinkley, 17, also a Pleasanton resident, plays for Ayres on the team at the California School for the Deaf in Fremont plus played on the USA team. She did a great job as point guard at the international games, said Ayres.

Read more about it in the June 18 edition of the Pleasanton Weekly.

Ladies, that is really spectacular. What a wonderful example you set for the rest of our community, not to mention the rest of the world!!! Congratulations to you both, and to your entire team as well, on this terrific accomplishment.
