Only 72 degrees today at start of cool weekend for Father's Day

Spirit Run participants could face mid-60s as Sunday's event gets under way

Temperatures more winter-like than for mid-June will reach only 69 degrees today in Pleasanton and the Tri-Valley as a cold air front passes by.

Tonight, the thermometer will drop to 48 degrees by early morning, making for an unseasonably cool start for Sunday's Spirit Run in downtown Pleasanton.

The annual Rotoary Club benefit will get under way at 8 a.m. with temperatures expected to be in the mid-50s to low-60s, although a high of 78 degrees is expected my mid-day Sunday.

Although a warming trend is predicted for the week ahead, those participating in Rotary's Spirit Run in downtown Pleasanton early Sunday are advised to carry jackets. BCN2 -ADVISORY

The California Highway Patrol has issued wind advisories for

various roadways due to gusty conditions around the Bay Area.

A high wind advisory that was issued Friday night for Interstate

Highway 580 through the Altamont Pass is still in effect early this morning.

Advisories have also been issued for motorists on the Bay Bridge

and the Hayward-San Mateo Bridge.

The CHP is cautioning drivers to slow down and leave plenty of

space between vehicles.

Gusts are expected to die down in the early morning hours,

according to the National Weather Service.
