Rep. Ro Khanna wants to require all businesses to pay $15 per hour

Uploaded: Feb 25, 2021
The callous actions of President Joe Biden and other leading Democrats is mind-blowing.
When the president cancelled the Keystone XL pipeline by executive order on his first day in office, he put 11,000 union workers on the unemployment rolls. It pandered to the extreme greens in his party and ignored the traditional support from labor. Then his climate advisor, John Kerry, chimed in that they will find good jobs in green industry. Really.
The latest example of disregard and ignorance came from Rep. Ro Khanna who represents the South Bay. When he was shopping around for a seat to run for after serving in the Obama Administration, Khanna checked out running against Eric Swalwell. He decided instead to take on Mike Honda. In a CNN interview last Sunday he supported the $15 minimum wage that the House included in its entirely unnecessary, pork-filled COVID-19 bill.
He told the interviewer, “We don’t want low-wage businesses. I think most successful small businesses can pay a fair wage.”
Wow.
You could correctly ask when Khanna actually ran a business. This is a classic case of a Bay Area rep who also has lived in the Washington D.C. bubble, being totally out-of-touch with reality. There’s a reason that people in the Northeast, Illinois and California have been decamping for lower cost states.
I remember the sticker shock that a former colleague, who had relocated back home to Illinois for his senior years, felt when we’d have breakfast together in downtown Pleasanton. The price point was probably 50% higher here. And Khanna and his fellow Dems would impose those labor costs on all small businesses across the country.
Perhaps even more shocking was the letter that Reps. Jerry McNerney and Anna Eshoo sent to major communication companies such as AT&T, Comcast, Verizon, Apple, Amazon and others. You may remember that McNerney, a Pleasanton resident at the time, upset Richard Pombo to win his House seat. He left the valley for Stockton when his district was folded into Pete Stark’s. It’s hard to believe that McNerney is in touch with his district on this one.
He and Eshoo slammed conservative media outlets such as Fox and Newsmax and argued they contributed to the assault upon the Capitol on January 6.
“"Some purported news outlets have long been misinformation rumor mills and conspiracy theory hotbeds that produce content that leads to real harm," the letters said. "Misinformation on TV has led to our current polluted information environment that radicalizes individuals to commit seditious acts and rejects public health best practices, among other issues in our public discourse."
They demanded that the outlets provide, “what moral or ethical principles (including those related to journalistic integrity, violence, medical information, and public health) do you apply in deciding which channels to carry or when to take adverse actions against a channel?"
The letter also wanted the cable outlets to detail what they’ve done to "monitor, respond to, and reduce the spread of disinformation" on the networks.
Notably, the representatives did not demand similar information from the left-wing outlets such as MSNBC and CNN or the traditional mainstream media. Perhaps, they had no role in the summer of insurrection in cities such Portland and Seattle.
The letter preceded a congressional hearing held Wednesday and demonstrates just how crazy progressive Democrats are being as they have taken power in Washington D.C.

Community.
What is it worth to you?

Ro Khanna who never ran a business should backtrack, shut his mouth and learn about owning and operating a business. It is apparent that we have far too many representatives who make a living off the peoples taxes who create laws that hurt many of the tax payers who provide them with the comfortable living! Its time for Ro Khanna to make a public apology to all small businesses owners because the truth is we do not need him or his uninformed opinion on something he does not know! Another failed opinionated politician without solutions only more confusion and roadblocks. Trump taught us to remove the roadblocks and restrictions, its obvious that Ro Khanna hasn't learned anything!

It's not just Ro. It's his party leadership and most of its members. The Democrat Party version of "operating a business" is to remake it into a charity where employees are paid inflated wages regardless of job skills, benefits such as health care need to be "free", and managers/supervisors can't earn more than a certain percentage of the staff for "income equality" and "shared prosperity" reasons. The owners/proprietors of the business? According to Obama, "they didn't build that".

Why work or save at all? It's easier to claim you are being ripped off by the 1% and wait for all of the new "free" items the progressives want to give away - so everything is "fair".

I agree.

So called "professional journalists" in major media outlets ignored the failures of school officials/law enforcement to stop Nikolas Cruz at Parkland (despite numerous warning signs) and blamed 2nd Amendment supporters, law abiding citizens, and the gun manufacturers for it taking place instead. Activists and students then (mindlessly) protested against a political term that does not exist ("gun violence"). They subsequently demanded firearms bans/confiscation schemes for those having nothing to do with violence while simultaneously characterizing people who deliberately misused firearms/violated current laws as bystanders or victims of a "public health problem".

The most out of touch soundbite from Democrats on a national $15 an hour minimum wage is that "you can not support a family on today's minimum wage". Minimum wage jobs, i.e. fast food restaurant employees, grocery store baggers, etc. are not jobs designed to "support a family on". These are traditional first jobs designed for high school kids and college students to get some experience in the work force, earn some money, and learn some basic customer service skills. You should not be having children if you are earning minimum wage, whether it is $10 an hour or $15 an hour.

Years ago, almost everyone in high school, whether on the weekends or during the summer, had one of these minimum wage jobs, and it motivated many to work hard in school, get good grades, so they did not have to this type of work for the rest of their lives. Unfortunately, today many graduate from high school without ever having a job, and miss out on the importance these entry level jobs teach them. If this $15 an hour federal minimum wage passes, so many employers will not be able to afford to hire these students and young people for these entry level jobs, and the number of students having work experience will decline even more.

$15 an hour minimum wage is absurd. Minimum wage was never meant to be a "living wage" and adults shouldn't be working for minimum wage. Those jobs should be for high school and college students. Employers can't afford a wage hike, and they'd pass the cost to their customers. In California, minimum wage is high enough already.

The $15 dollar minimum wage was dismissed from the $1.9 Trillion stimulus legislation because of its language in the manner it was written.

That goes to show that all of the liberal bleeding heart democrats that represent us do not know how to write legislation or how to introduce bills in congress.

These are names of some of the liberal bleeding heart people that represent our best interests in Washington..

Maxine Waters, Mancy Pelosi, Eric Swalwell, Ro Khanna, Ocasio Cortez Garcia, Ilhan Omar, Bernie Sanders, Charles Schumer, Judy Chu, Kamala Harris, Joe Biden, Cory Booker to name a few.

Ro Khanna won his district with 71% of the votes. Eric Swalwell won his district with 70% of the votes. These are facts.

Here are more facts- until 1968, minimum wage was increased in line with inflation and worker productivity. That means workers were able to maintain their buying power as inflation increased and have even more buying power as they were more productive and created more value in return.

Minimum wage has not kept up with inflation and productivity in the past 5 decades. If it had, it would be in the $20/hour range.

The president is proposing a step-wise increase to $15, not an immediate increase.

This blog is another example of Tim and his 5-6 QANON followers who dislike Democrats and use anything that Democrats do to criticize them as opposed to using data and facts.

Tim, I wonder how the workers in the Pleasanton restaurant where you and you friend ate at would think of your blog - you are telling them they make too much money. Many of them are working several jobs just to pay rent and bills, not to mention save for retirement and emergency money.

First of all, please have someone read/ correct your grammar- it should be “are mind blowing “.

It is ok for people who respond to your blog to make grammar and spelling mistakes in our posts. But, the article should be clean of mistakes, especially an obvious mistake in the first line of the blog.

Second - you call giving aid to Americans by trying to raise their minimum wage CALLUS - where is you blog about what happened on January 6th and what Trump and his zombie followers including House Reps. and Senators did?

One reason Democrats are winning elections in House, Presidency and finally Senate (not to mention CA) is because you all lack data and logic, and follow crazy conspiracies that sane people with a few more brain cells than you reject and laugh at.

For example, In Tim's last blog, Jake Waters is blaming Dominion voting machines for Swallwel's 70% win for his seat.

Sane, decent Americans ( majority in this great nation of ours) hear that and crazy Chinese Spy BS and shake their heads. What the heck is wrong with you people?

My message to the GOPQANON is keep doing it - keep believing and spreading garbage you read on QANON. I cannot think of a better way for Democrats to win the votes of majority of Americans who laugh at you.

Yup, 70% of the vote and they don't know how to right legislation.

John Kerry and the President are being honest. They are telling the workers to upgrade and transition into new tech and new industries instead of continuing with old legacy fossil fuel industry.

The Republicans have been lying to the workers and misleading them into thinking these job are forever.

John Kerry and the President want the best for these workers. Republicans just want their votes.

Calling the Covid-19 bill pork-filled and unnecessary.

I guess the 2017 tax law that gave corporations and the rich huge tax breaks was a fantastic bill. It resulted in the biggest budget deficit ever. Did it result in more jobs? NO - there were more jobs in President Obama's last 3 years of office than Trump's first 3 years in the office.

I searched where Maxine Waters campaign monies went?
Answer: $1.1 Million dollars went to her daughter.

I searched where Ilhan Omar campaign monies went?.
Answer: More than $1 million went to her husband.

I did not search any others, I can guess where that campaign money went.
