Pleasanton's permitting process goes online
New 'e-government' service part of city's efforts to streamline, expedite building improvement process

As part of its continuing effort to simplify and expedite the permitting process, the city of Pleasanton has launched a slate of new services which allow building permits to be handled on the Internet and by telephone.

Using the new Citizen Access online portal, residents, developers and businesses can schedule inspections, check the status of a permit or inspection or check for property information directly from the Internet, 24-hours a day, seven days a week. A Voice Permits system allows customers to schedule, re-schedule, and listen to inspection results from any touch-tone phone.

"Increasing citizen access to government services is an important goal for the city of Pleasanton, and this new service delivers an easy and convenient way for us to expand our e-government services," said Brian Dolan, director of community development. "This also increases the efficiency level of city services by better maximizing staff resources to focus on more complex applications."

The new Citizen Access system is powered by software from Accela, Inc. of San Ramon. The new Voice Permits telephone system is powered by software from Selectron Technologies of Tigard, Ore.
