Century of Honor with Boy Scouts of America

Original post made by Ken mano, Willow West, on Oct 28, 2013

On Tuesday, October 29, at 6:00pm the Scouting Spectacular called "Century of Honor" will be shown at the Pleasanton LDS Stake Center, 6100 Paseo Santa Cruz in Pleasanton.

This is an opportunity for all who are interested in Scouting, or who have boys who might be interested in joining Scouting (Cubs, Scouts, Explorers) to view this wonderful broadcast celebrating a century of partnership with the Boy Scouts of America. It has been rumored that scouts will be rappelling from the ceiling of the conference center and that kayaks will be floating in the building.

The broadcast will originate in the 21,000 seat Conference Center from Salt Lake City.

The top BSA Scout Leaders including the Chief Scout Executive will be in attendance.

There will be displays and crackerbarrel (refreshments) after the broadcast.

A Commemorative patch will be given to all scouts and scouters in uniform..... (additional patches may be available after the broadcast for others).

Probably not surprising that LDS has taken over so much of the scouting leadership role, given the organization's homophobic views. Too bad that there isn't another large-scale organization that offers kids an option for the many good programs included in scouting. Shame that the orgsnization's archaic policies (and yes, I'm aware of the half-@ssed attempt to change that they approved earlier this year - which, of course, really didn't change anything) pervade what could otherwise be a great choice for youths.
