Very interesting that dog attacks are not reported. Mine was recently killed by a German Shepherd. The only reports I find on the internet are about Pit bulls. I attended a vicious dog hearing and the dog is back with her family with stipulations to have training and wear a muzzle. I felt bad for her family but I also wonder why we only hear about Pit bulls. My little Canine Good Citizen Chihuahua didn't deserve to lose his life that way. I am very confused about why only Pitties are targeted as being vicious. My dog and I were walking calmly, and ambushed.

Did the attack dogs owner come forth?

Or are the dogs at large? Did anyone

call Animal Control? Hope the person and

the little dog are ok.

Laury, I am so sorry you lost your pet because the irresponsible owner of the Shepard failed to keep his dog from killing yours. I agree incidents of AmStaff (pit bulls) and their irresponsible owners make the news. There are many breeds that naturally have the prey-drive that Shepards, AmStaffs, and many other breeds possess. Owners of these breeds need special training and their dogs needs special training. I happen to own a high prey dog and he has never had an incident, but I know what he is capable of so I take precautions and never let my guard down. So far, he has been tolerant of small dogs, kids, and our cat.

Again, sorry for your loss. There are many deserving dogs who need rescue, perhaps you can find it in your heart to bring one home and enjoy that companionship once again.

My other dog is a Chihuahua that I love and he is so tiny. I know that if a large dog got a hold of him it would be over fast. He was recently chased by my neighbors dog who looked like he would have killed him. Chico ran so fast all over the yard that the other dogs couldn't catch him. The other dog then proceed to clamped down on my other dogs back and tore into him. He spent the night in the hospital and two weeks recouperating from the injuries.

Not everybody should have a dog. Especially folks who fail to keep their dogs from attacking other dogs and killing them.
