Active shooter training PPD
Around Town, posted by steve , a resident of the Birdland neighborhood, on Dec 14, 2012 at 1:45 pm

Can someone from the police department, city government tell us what plans they have and when was the last time the local beat officer trained in an active shooter situation. I know the swat teams train for these kinds of situations.

About 4 year ago I remember a large drill was conducted at hart middle school. Does the Local PD train yearly in this area?

All police department's train for active killer situations at least once a year.

Yes..the PD trains yearly for large scenarios like an active shooter in a public setting...however, due to budget cuts and low staffing levels, training is at a bare minimum. Perhaps a letter to the City Manager addressing these concerns from a citizen would help solve some of the issues.
