Thought we would give nonnis restaurant downtown a try for lunch today, have never been there, not crowded today, only 7 customers in the restaurant, perfect timing or so I thought. We walked in, other People ahead of us waiting to be seated also, nobody acknowledged us, somebody in the back kept looking up but never came out to greet us, too busy talking to whoever else was in the back, we waited approx. 5 minutes nothing changed, that's enough for me, all 4 of us walked out and headed for other places, quess they are doing well enough to not need our business today or any other day, will not be going back there again!

That's unfortunate. We've only ever been there for dinner and had no service issues. Their food is really good. The person in the back might have been the chef busy cooking. He does come out sometimes. More than a few of the downtown restaurants suffer from less-than-desirable service.

Nonnis is the best thing to happen to our downtown in years. Chef Magnusson always provides a warm greeting, and dishes up great food. He is a welcome addition to Pleasanton

How "bold" of you to anonymously post your blather on this thread! It is hard enough to establish a successful business in general and a "restaurant" business in particular.
Imagine all the business plans, purchase decisions, staffing decisions and then to deal with all the (expletive deleted) local, state, and federal regulations just to OPEN a business! Then all it takes is ONE DOLT like you to fowl up one's dreams.
Give this restaurant some slack.
Or may I guess that you are part of the Obama job-wrecking machine to wipe out private businesses in this country?

I haven't visited this restaurant yet but I've heard good things about it and you made some good points. Too bad you had to ruin it all by going off the rails with your very last sentence. A tip for the future: When you've run out of thoughtful things to say, it's time to stop.

Republicans, libertarians, and tea partiers need to stop with the in-fighting. We're facing a very important election this year in the face of tsunami debt and a thin-skinned president with disasterously tyrannical policies that oppress freedom loving Americans and their children. (E.g., raised taxes on tanning salons and tobacco products.) Let's stop crucifying our best hope, because the thin-skinned one most fears having to debate Newt Gingrich. White is right and old is bold, and we need to come together if we are to defeat the socialists and communists in the FAll.

Hey, let's keep this thread for restaurants,keep at least one spot free of all the political whining! Have been a p.town resident and supporter of the downtown stores and restaurants for a long time, probably a lot Longer than the whiners! I will continue supporting our downtown just don't keep us standing at attention at the door and ignore us, have never waited anywhere more than a minute or so without being greeted or acknowledged.

Chipolte I just drove to Dublin again yesterday to eat Chipolte, but the line was literally out the door....and I'd say that space is larger than Nonnis, Different price and style, I know...but there are 21 meals in a week to satisfy.

Mal, it's too bad you had a bad experience. I'd try again as that perhaps something was wrong that day. I ate there for dinner a while back and thought the food was *delicious*. The service was fine. The chef/owner came out and made the rounds too.

We went back to try Nonni's for dinner on a Thursday night - after having a not-so-great experience with lunch last fall.
We, too, waited at the front door for over 5 minutes before anyone came to seat us - even though there were several employees working in the back who could see the door.
At one point, the chef came out, sat down at the table next to us, the gobbled up the evening's special. No acknowledgement to others around him. We thought that was odd.
The food was OK, the service lacking.....we won't be back.

When you think about it, the original poster probably did Nonni's a favor by, we would hope, alerting them to a big problem with their service. It would be an even bigger waste if the business failed, after all of the effort and expense of opening the restaurant, because of lackadaisical, indifferent service. I'll bet the problem has been fixed by now, so go enjoy the food, which everyone here says is good.
