Power restored after Wednesday morning outage leaves 3,800 in the dark in Pleasanton

Electric power was restored about 9 a.m. Wednesday to about 3,800 PG&E business and residential customers who were left in the dark for a few hours well before sunrise in and near downtown Pleasanton.

When the outage is caused by their equipment failure they are responsible to replace anything electronic that was damaged. If you have a microwave, computer, timers, or anything else that no longer works after the failure/surge make a report with PG & E and get it replaced.

Correction;
My power was not restored by 9am or 10am, it was closer to 11am.

Thanks for the info on the equipment! Also, it looks like the power came on in phases ... ours came back on a few minutes after 8:00am...

PW, thanks for the update on this. However, PG&E is being its typical incompetent and/or criminal self when he throws out what "might have been the cause". Do they know and aren't saying (criminal) or don't know (incompetent)? Known what equipment they had to replace might give them a clue! The sad part is that PG&E customers have do deal with power reliability of a third world country and power cost that's the highest in the country (7-8 times higher than most places in the Midwest). Primarily we have these high frequency of power outages because of PG&E's notoriously poor maintenance.

There should have been a police officer at the busy Bernal/First St/Sunol Blvd intersection. That light still wasn't working long after our house power came back on. It was very dangerous. Many people were not observing the law to treat the intersection as a "stop sign." They were just rushing through if they saw a space!

I went through the intersection of Bernal and First/Sunol at ~6:20am and the lights were working just fine. I wonder if they were later knocked out when power was restored elsewhere.

Power came back on sometime between 10-noon. We couldn't tell because we took our house off the grid, and fired up our generator. We had a critical construction project planned and stayed on schedule without PG&E. I agree the utility is not sharing information openly with the public, and this part of their PUC monopoly responsibility needs to be clarified and monitored for compliance.

Ours came back on at approx. 8:30......we also had a generator going.

At 3:45 a.m. I was awakened by the sound of the transformer behind our home making a loud popping noise and the power shut down. PG&E came to the house; we explained where the noise came from; the power went back on at 5:45 a.m. I wonder if that caused a chain of failures based on the other outages that followed?
