Pleasanton Gossipers Are Not Amused: Call for Strict Censorship

Original post made by Teddy on Dec 13, 2012

As reported by Marvin on the Community at War site, at least one of Pleasanton's gossip queens is calling for a shutdown of all posts that poke fun at public or anonymous speakers such as herself when she takes a single name for herself or when she adopts her 'real' name in public fashion.

Marvin's report expresses curiosity that at this time in Pleasanton's history, when one of it's youths has been roundly condemned and persecuted by so many good Ptowners, and when one of its school administrators is being raked over the coals because of a raise n salaries others decided to award her, that one of Ptown's most famous gossip queens would choose to once again as she has done frequently in the past call for PW censorship of those who disagree with her in a playful manner.

Stated one Ptown resident, "Not even Aristotle's phronesis is enough to explain this curious turn of events." Another resident opined that "she's just probably disappointed at last evening's scant turnout. That, combined with the stresses of holiday shopping, probably sent the old girl over the edge."

Marvin, in a most recent interview by yours truly, responded by raising this cogent question: "If disturbing stinky stuff should be censored then why not hypocrisy, or illogical reasoning, or spreading unverifiable rumors, or avowals of hatred toward others, or bad spelling or grammar?"

More on this as additional accusations come in....

I say "Let the plop fall where it may." And if someone feels compelled to disturb it a bit, no matter how self-righteous or hysterical the plopper may be, then I say Disturb Away!

I have a confession to make. Some time back, I was the victim of cyberbullying. It involved back when I posted as Paul. Back then it was very important to me that my child's school principal was revealed for the kind of scoundrel he was. So I began posting everyone about what kind of car he drove, what his salary was, what his qualifications were, and all other kinds of delicious gossip. But then people started to pick on me. They responded to my posts with harsh laughter and ridicule, and sometimes went to great lengths in their sarcastic remarks. Now, I know they were in the wrong, because my gossip was very righteous in that I meant to inform the community about the important ways their taxes were being spent. But for some reason they kept laughing at me, even when I called the PW incessantly with my complaints, wrote them letters almost every day, and even called on public posts for them to censor others' posts and even banish them from the city.

It was Paul this, and Paul that, and even though the sarcastic ones didn't know my last name and most assuredly didn't even care, I was simply crushed. I even considered changing my name from Paul to Peter. Well, I did that, sort of. I adopted another name but also kept my own. That'll keep them guessing, I thought. And it did, for a while. I even went so far as to use two computers in my home and would send messages at the same time. But then others caught on, even sooner than I thought. So I changed my name again. That pretty much got them off my trail. Now I post under the name Teddy. And my child's principal now drives a Nissan Altima. Can you imagine?

In case you see someone posting as Judith Mutchelacher I want you to know it is me. I've even registered with PW. Oh, and thank you for not being sarcastic with me -- especially those who haven't sent a post. God bless.

Ive been impersonated at least 4 times (or I cant spell my name), defamed, threatened, had my professional integrity called into question amoung many other things on PW. In my opinion, P-Town is Crazy-Town and Woltman has NO interest in investigating stories. I come here a few times a week for the entertainment and to see what I posted that I didnt really post or what defamatory statements were made about me. Thats about it.

PW why not simply have a uniform policy whereby if a particular post is flagged at least once and does appear to be insulting, questionable, defamatory or inflammatory to then take it down. I do not agree with your strange policy of leaving up multiple posts to a story clearly made by a single individual in instances where it's obvious that there is a restraining order in place and your page is facilitating violations of court orders through direct or indirect threats and when it's quite clear that somebody is being maliciously and willfully impersonated.

I see lawsuits in your future unfortunately and perhaps it would be easiest to not have a Townsquare forum or to check in with "real" online news reporters and ask how they handle these types of situations.

Your system is messed up just like your reporting of news is messed up. I mean no disrespect. I just can't believe what has happened to myself and two other individuals via your forms. It's absolutely disgusting.

Typo above. TWO was supposed to say TO I in no way meant to imply that only me and two other individuals have been victims of Pleasanton weekly.

I've participated on these sites frequently enough to realize a number of things. First, people visit the sites with different agendas and expectations: information; entertainment; satisfaction of an addiction; relief of boredom; filling a void with connection to others, however unfulfilling that may ultimately be; egoism; many, many more.

Second, some people who visit the sites and contribute to them are mentally unstable.

Third, some people's contributions are so utterly absurd that only someone mentally unstable or someone astonishingly bound up in their own sense of self importance could possible fail to recognize the contributions' absurdity. (See, for example, Marvin's contributions on the Community at War [which might have been subtitled: A Parody on Habitual Users of PW Forum], and a gossip queen's response to it via her apparently serious appeals for censorship.)

Yours truly,

I see this thread as just a lame attempt at justifying your abusive relationship with Kathleen. No other journalism website that provides comments on stories would permit such a relationship, let alone allow it to continue for several years.

I'm an equal opportunity debunker, Staceleen. Your weak and transparent effort to defend yourself using another name is just that. I think I've made it clear that your views, identical with your 'twin', are no less ridiculous; just as I have re Arnie and Steve and Hunt and Jimbo and the rest of the rightwing nutjobs who spread their propagandistic idiocy on these threads. In your case (plural), the size of your ego far outweighs your intelligence. It gets in your way time and again. It's obvious to all except apparently yourself. No one buys your false and misdirected bravado. Get a life; the one you live on these threads is an illusion.

This is a test for the PW staff. More later.

Staceleen is unable to countenance being bested in argument. She likens it to being abused. This is a test, alright, but only in her own imagination. More later. Over and out.

The Pleasanton Weekly staff cannot prove two people who post are the same people or different people. If you think they can, you don't understand internet technology. The fact that you are responding to these posts does more to raise suspicion than it does to dispel this rumor.

I truly care not whether you are two or one. And I doubt anyone else cares, either. I always respond to what you say, not who you are. You are the one who incessantly makes a big deal of this. Why do you think that is?

They can tell, John. The reason I said more later is because I was posting from O'Hare Airport prior to my trip home. And Stacey was not in Chicago. They can verify the difference in where I post from on a regular basis versus where I posted from several hours ago versus where Stacey posted.

John, The issue of whether Stacey and I are two people or not was started not because there is a lack of validity to the claim (there are several people who have met both of us) but because Teddy/Marvin (and many other aliases) actually is one person. Best to deflect to someone else what you are doing. While I use my own name and wish others would, I don't care if people are anonymous. I do think people should pick one name to use, however, so others can follow a particular person's thought processes. But "Teddy" isn't the only one using more than one name. Oh well.

John, since Kathleen doesn't know much about Internet technology and puts false hope into the PW staff's ability to tell, how could she possibly be spoofing as two different registered users? A little more logic, please.
