PW Website Facilitates Cyberbullying

Pleasanton Weekly, when are you going to put an end to the facilitation of cyberbullying on your website? Clearly, Marvin isn't interested in talking about Kenton beyond using the subject as yet another hook for making personal attacks against Kathleen Ruegsegger across several different threads. The attacker even created a new thread and posted almost exclusively on it with thinly veiled references to Kathleen. Your site has also enabled parties in the Brian Lancaster story to harass each other here. Stop pretending that this is some great and grand experiment in democracy and free speech and mature your site already.

PW, Marvin is NOT here to challenge ideas or claims made by other posters. Marvin has conducted a multi-year effort to cyberbully Kathleen Ruegsegger by actively stalking her posts and making personal comments about her, even on subjects where Kathleen and Marvin have agreement. Marvin is not exercising free speech, but engaging in continuous and sustained harassment. It is really sad that you either do not recognize it or recognize it and allow it to continue.

No no, it isn't just really sad, it's shameful. You, PW, should be ashamed that your website, which is supposed to be "a thoughtful gathering place for sharing community information and opinion" is used as a platform for cyberbullies.

PW,

Let me ask you, does free speech include obsessing over another poster? Marvin does not simply challenge an opposing view because what often happens is that Marvin misstates the views of others. For example, Marvin, in trying to defend his cyberbullying activity, is now claiming that I have publicly opposed the raise for Luz Cazares or commented about Kenton Koos yet I have not made any statements on those subjects.

My family and I have been made the target of an abhorrent level of cyberbullying as my abuser is using this site as conduit to perpetuate his abuse (despite having a restraining order in place). Writers and editors, please investigate and report on the truth instead of one-sided drug fueled rants and incredulous accusations.

Stacey, do you recognize how hysterical you sound (and not the "ha ha" kind of hysterical)? I'm guessing you don't, so let me point it out to you: responding to your own post again and again may make people believe you're some kind of crazy lady. Or that you forgot to log in as Kathleen...

Look, despite all the assertions, just contact the PW. Two people. Verifiable. Or come on over and I'll see if Stacey can post at the same time from her home or office while you watch that I am in fact a different person. Insisting we are not two people; there's the hysteria.

I found the comments on the Brian Lancaster threads to be really petty. The PW can't keep up with moderating after the fact, which is why they need to move this website in the direction that so many other news organizations have taken. Provide some social networking tools, give nice incentives and benefits to well-behaved registered users who foster a good reputation for their online persona, and watch your site self-moderate and become truly a thoughtful gathering place for sharing. No real names even needed (those don't work to mitigate online disinhibition anyway as the South Koreans have shown).
