while i write the check, i think of all the items that my family could use with this money and all of the private business owners that could benefit from the increased business.

You bought your houses 30 years ago and are paying $80 a month property tax on an $800,000 house, but that is still too much? After all, all money that goes to taxes is taken away from "private business owners" and "families", and they see not benefits from it (like schools or roads)?

Face it folks, your government in Oakland is much smarter than you when it comes to the best way to spend your money.

Be grateful that we live in the kind of state where the government also gets to decide which laws they need to follow, which citizen initiatives can simply be ignored, which regulations to burden you with. It is so much easier that way. Just wait to be told. After all, they know it all.

john, i am sure that i pay more in taxes each year than you earn during the same time period.i do not mind paying taxes if they did not end up being used on wasteful spending and a bloated bureaucracy.

Oh, and I forgot to mention that you want no one cutting your Medicare and Social Security payments. After all, you paid in all your life, so that is your money!!

And sure tim you must pay more in tax than "each year than you earn during the same time period". That is why you live in "Vintage Hills Elementary School neighborhood". I must live in the poor part of Pleasanton to not think about "all the items that my family could use with this money and all of the private business owners that could benefit from the increased business."

This tax money should be going into the pockets of corporate CEOs who are now making salaries at 500 to 1 compared to their average worker, up only a little bit from 40 to 1 back in the 1970s. Yet people criticize the hard-working CEO instead of the corrupt creep who's going to earn almost 200K per year as an assistant soop in the PUSD. You people have a lot of nerve.
