City OKs new Housing Element

The Pleasanton City Council voted 4-1 Tuesday night to add a new Housing Element commitment to the city's General Plan, a move that ended seven years of debate, lawsuits and confrontation with state authorities and an affordable housing coalition.

This is not a good idea!!!!! Anyone know that when you build an affordable apartment building you are going to see an increase in crime!!!!! It will attract the wrong people!!!! RETHINK THIS City council!!!!

I watched the meeting and McGovern's comments, I think this article is wrong. I think McGovern desented because the Housing Element went farther than the settlement required and allows 100% affordable developments, this a divergence from Pleasanton's past practice of mixed inclusionary low income developments. In other word Pleasanton will now have "Projects" which typically become blighted and stigmatize the children who live there.
