New Iron Horse Trail segment
Comments on Stories, posted by Bob, a resident of the Another Pleasanton neighborhood neighborhood, on Mar 31, 2008 at 11:24 pm

I like the idea of the Iron Horse Trail. It seems amazing to me that it cost $1.6 million dollars to build that 1 mile segment. I know, a fourth of it came from ACTIA (whoever that is) and we ripped off Ponderosa Homes for some of it too (making the cost of the homes a little higher), it just seems like we are not using those large amounts of money for better purposes.

This is a reminder of what a good deal Oak Grove is for the city. The City required the landowner to build miles of public trails within the 500 acre park by the sale of the 5th lot. The City gets the park and the trails at no cost. The City, the NIMBYs and the naysayers should let Oak Grove move ahead and stop beating a dead horse (sorry about the pun.)

Just an FYI, the city is not preventing Oak Grove from moving forward.

This is how it is when taxpayer money is used. There is no hard negotiating. People don't care because it's taxpayer money. For example, I used to work at a company that sold wire and cable. I used to hear the salespeople negotiating prices with customers. When the government called to buy wire and cable, there was no negotiating. The government was given a high price, and the government accepted it and paid it, no questions asked. It's taxpayer money, so who cares?

And taxpayer money will be used to keep spraying the tan bark and dirt alongside the trail with pesticides. Native groundcover could be used, but then we wouldn't get to spray pesticides, and they're fun.
