What do you think of the new restaurants section?

Original post made by Eric, another community, on Apr 7, 2007

Hi, I'm co-founder of BooRah, the company that's working with the Pleasanton Weekly on the new online Restaurants section that just launched. I'm starting this thread get a dialog going on the new section -- what do you think? Is the new online restaurant guide better than what was there before? Do you like being able to see what other people are saying from across the web? Do you like being able to write reviews? Any other suggestions? Post them here...

I tried to post a review in both MSIE and Firefox and it didn't work. I get a blank page after hitting 'Submit'. In answer to your questions, I don't know what was there before since I never looked. It is kind of nice to have a local site focused on local issues and places.

Haps: I find the food generally very good except the shrimp is consistently of poor quality. The shrimp doesn't smell fresh and is mushy. The food staff is excellent with the exception of someone named Aron. He is arrogant and doesn't seem to be there.

Love the new restaurant listings. Two places I don't think you've put up yet: Main Street Bar and Grill on Main near Ray, and Giant Burgers on Stanley and Vineyard. Also, last time I saw, Meiko on Valley and Santa Rita was no longer in business. Keep up the good work!

I just ate at Meiko's last night. They seemed like they were still in business. :) But yea, quite a few restaurants are listed that are no longer in business...

Rick is a registered user.

It would be nice if it was more Wiki style, so that anyone could add a restaurant or delete one if it was no longer out of business, obviously it would require Wiki functionality for that as well, so that stuff just wasn't getting randomly deleted or added. I like being able to change the details though.

Would be nice to sort by other variables besides Buzz Index during a search too.

Otherwise, it's nice to have and looks great.

I would like to see a forum more like TripAdvisor or sfgate's restaurant look up. As the reviews become numerous - and that's the only way this type of site will be useful - there need to be several ways to sort out what you're looking for. Scrolling through to just see what the latest someone posted is a waste of time.
