Houston worthy successor to Pombo
State, National, International, posted by Pam, a resident of another community, on Mar 6, 2007 at 2:06 pm

The Weekly story on Guy Houston was a nice ode to his local roots but short on substance. He would be a worthy successor to Pombo with a zero vote rating from the Sierra Club and League of Conservation voters, an A rating from the NRA, an anti-choice rating from NARAL, and ratings from 36 to 44 percent from seniors' groups. Check out the non-partisan Project Vote Smart. He was at the Martin Luther King breakfast, but there was no mention that he also gets low ratings from civil rights groups. Clearly, he's opportunistic as well. Isn't there a moderate around to save us? Oh, I guess that's why McNerney was elected.

I'm looking for a reason why I would vote for him. Besides being a republican what else is worthy of a vote?

I'm with "Why Houston." When I look across the freeway from Pleasanton into Dublin, all I see is the Neon Shopping Center (with parking/traffic flow poorly planned) and the astronomical growth that has impacted everyone living in the valley -- in a negative fashion.

Wikipedia notes Houston now lives in San Ramon. Has he always? Did he leave Dublin because the congestion he caused became too much?

FWIW, I try to shop anywhere BUT Dublin and Dublin has Guy to thank for that. I refuse to give my sales tax dollars to a city that was soooo suckered in by one man.
