Pleasanton school board declines bid to consider smaller class sizes for 2nd grade

With their successful campaign for smaller class sizes in first grade behind them, about 10 parents came back to the Pleasanton school board Tuesday night, this time asking for smaller second-grade classes.

I would like to clarify that my "cash register" remark was made to accompany the bigger idea that there is not enough room in our first grade classrooms for creative play. That is the important idea. Also, my daughter (two years ago) received 108 hours more in first grade than my son did this year, because the staggered reading schedule ("early bird/late bird") was not necessary to accommodate small group instruction. Thank you.
