"I think they ought to put a sign on the National Committee door that says 'closed for repairs,' until New Years' Day next year," Dole told Chris Wallace, "and spend that time going over ideas and positive agendas." [...]
"Could people like Bob Dole, even Ronald Reagan, could you make it in today's Republican party?" Wallace asked.
"I doubt it," Dole said. "Reagan couldn't have made it. Certainly Nixon couldn't have made it, because he had ideas."
Dole then dropped a bombshell on Fox viewers, exhorting them to change over to the Democratic Party. Almost immediately the network went dead, and when it came back five minutes later, Dole was gone from his chair, replaced by Anne Coulter exhorting Americans to imprison Barack Obama.
