James Nagel band highlight tonight's 'Concert in the Park' in downtown Pleasanton

Original post made on May 24, 2013

Pleasanton's popular Friday night "Concert in the Park" series continues at 7 p.m. tonight with comfortable, cooler temperatures making the evening enjoyable for listening to the rock and soul music of the James Nagel band. Tonight's sponsor is Cafe Main and Baci Bistro and Bar, with the summer concerts sponsored by Safeway and the Pleasanton Weekly.

It is great to hear that the music is coming back to downtown.
Here's another idea for music lovers - since we don't seem to have anyone with $interested in revitalizing the watersides at Shadow Cliffs, how about an amphitheater? It could be built into the hillside where the slides are currently. Music could be played at that location without complaints from neighbors it isn't far from the already very popular downtown location. Parking is already available, there are bathrooms and room for refreshments.
Just a thought...

iluvmusic,

That is a great idea! We certainly enjoy the downtown summer concerts, however the idea of having music at the old waterslide location seems to answer a lot of concerns various people have expressed. This truly is "thinking outside the box". Way to go!

How about this for making the concerts better for everyone.

1. Pick up your trash! Don't leave it in the park.
2. Thrown your trash in garbage cans, not into the bushes and yards of the people whose houses are near the park.
3. Don't block the driveways, or worse yet park in the driveways, of people who live near the park.
4. Do you REALLY need to bring your dog? Then leash it and keep it away from my food.
5. Don't use tarps or any plastic coated blanket on the lawns. You kill the lawn that
way.
6. Try crossing the street at the corner, with the light. What are you teaching your kids when you pull them in their wagons across a busy street hoping that traffic will stop for you?
7. The police allow alcohol in the park during the concerts. Read that again, "during the concerts." So after the music stops leave already. You cannot sit there drinking all
night long.

None of these things should need to be said. Common courtesy seems to be in short supply in this town. Those of us who attend the concerts and those who live near the park will appreciate a little less entitlement and a little more courtesy this season.

The concerts in the park are one of the things that make Pleasanton a special place to live. Fortunately most people are courteous and follow the guidelines. I look forward to going again this summer.
