Graffiti threat found at AVHS today Schools & Kids, posted by AVHS Parent, a member of the Amador Valley High School community, on Mar 15, 2013 at 7:56 pm
Just got home to listen to a voicemail left by Rick Sira saying that a graffiti threat was found in a bathroom in the Q Building today. What is with all this copycat threats? They are very real warnings and very scary to the entire population! I know the district loses money if my student doesn't go to school, but I know I'll keep her out if they don't find the culprit!

Having a kid in Amador High, its very, very disturbing to hear about threatening messages in your kids school. While I was reassuring my child that it could just be a stupid kid trying to get out of a test or assignment on Monday, the school needs to make the kids understand that at the end of the day, whether they actually mean it or not(I'm praying on the NOT bit), they are terrorizing a whole community of their peers, their parents, family members and teachers. I wish whoever responsible is/are held accountable!

And maybe have security cameras? I know it would not be possible inside the bathrooms, but outside, around the rest of the school, why not? Does anyone know if this is actually possible?

Concerned Parent, Don't you know that Amador has been a closed campus for over ten years? And so has Foothill. It was in a bathroom like all graffiti is. My son says there is graffiti all the time. Small stuff, nice kids some of us are raising. As for graffitti I'm sure it was pretty harmless but after the uproar at FHS they have to let parents know of ever message now. Look at the reaction at FHS. What troubled teen wouldn't want to stay home, sit back and watch the havoc they have created. AVHS Parent, better keep her out until the end of the year, she'll be safe then. Don't worry about drugs, depression, pressure to succeed, or peer pressure - the real threats in their lives.

" Don't you know that Amador has been a closed campus for over ten years?"
I thought it was, but drive by it and it is really not. They close the gates sometime after 8:10 or so, then it opens again sometime before 2 because some students are in the 7-2 schedule.
That whole hour between 2 and 3 - anybody can go in, and also in the morning, I have not seen anyone guarding the gates, and they are open sometimes until 8:30 am, well after students are in class.
I too, think this may well be a student who wants to miss class, but what if it is not? We can't assume it is not a real threat until they figur3e out who is behind this.
I hope AVHS will have increased security on Monday.

so did half the student body stay at home today out of fear of this threat? I am not seeing it plastered all over the tv news. I don't even think Pleasanton's other media outlet covered it.

It was a normal day at AVHS, no one missed school or anything. I think it is someone trying to be funny, and I hope they figure out who it is because this is not right.
That said, I would still like to see a closed campus - close right after the bell rings (late students and others can go in through the front office), and for the 2 pm dismissal time, have only one open gate that is guarded. Either that, or have students exit through the front office.
