What about the poor lady and her animals in Hayward? Firefighters should be held responsible for her death. They are far from hero's.

Cutting back excess vegetation is a key to fire prevention this summer, both on private and public lands and around homes. Mowing operations are important. But on hilly areas like Pleasanton Ridge, there are few better options than sheep and goats. As many as you can get, as quickly as you can get them. If grass fires get into the eucalyptus, the whole ridge could go up. It might be nice to get rid of those invasive trees as was done on Angel Island, but fire is not the answer. Keeping down the brown grass is the best approach. Bring on the ruminants!
