SF Muni union sick-out today; only 1/3 of vehicles running

Original post made by Registered Joe, Another Pleasanton neighborhood, on Jun 2, 2014

Lots of problems in SF today because of the union sick-out.

If you think this is isolated to SF, think again: It's only a matter of time before the BART contract is up and the BART employees go on strike again.

There is only one candidate standing up against transit union abuse: Steve Glazer. He needs your vote tomorrow, and in November in the general election. State Assembly district 16, tri-valley including Pleasanton.

The Pleasanton Weekly wishfully commented that they were hopeful that a Republican and Democrat would be on the ballet in November, it would behoove us all to make sure it is Glazer and Baker, two candidates that have expressed their desire to rein in the unreasonable power wielded by the BART unions

Fire all those who called in sick. I am sure there are many people out there that would take their jobs.

Tired of the unions taking the residents hostage all the time.

cholo, even you can't deny that hundreds of union drones don't call in sick all at once, unless they are deliberately trying to hold the city and its citizens hostage. Low skill workers should never be allowed to negatively impact the lives of the majority of a city's residents.
Why do you hate the majority of people just in S.F. who are just trying to get to work and back home again? You union apologists cannot be that selfish and uncaring about the people that pay your inflated wages and benefits.....

Life just isn't fair. $32 an hour bus drivers, drug addicts on the buses, the Mayor lounges in his limo, and my wife won't raise my allowance to pay for the steeper fares.

I don't care if you walked or flew on a jet to get home. It's none of my business.

It's clear that most of the posters are more concerned about how much money bus drivers earn.

I'm delighted that the union is representing workers and that their interests will become even more public.

it takes what it takes to get through to numb skulls...

i rest my case...tee hee

Bus drivers might have to contribute...wait for it...7.5% to their own pension fund!!

The HORROR!!

Geesh!

And they're running a deficit!!

LOL! You just can't make this stuff up. Web Link

And today, only half the vehicles are operating. Sick-out day # 2.

I do wish posters here would limit their comments to the factual. You see, every time my husband hears how much union workers are earning, he then pesters me for a raise to his allowance. As all of you know, that's one of the important functions of unions in that they encourage others to petition their bosses for a higher wage or salary. But here I'm appealing to you as human beings. I already pay my husband far more than he deserves. All this discussion about unions just agitates him to no end. Please change the subject!

This will simply hasten the arrival of robo-buses.

Cholo - Since our public officials aren't concerned about salaries paid to government employees, it is ethically (and morally) necessary for us to watch how our money is spent. Some children believe that government money is printed (and free), but adults realize that it is earned through our hard labor, and adults have a moral obligation that their and other people's money is being spent wisely.
