Spay your Cats

Original post made by Spay your Cats, Birdland, on Mar 18, 2014

Feline Friskiness is at full bore. Spay your cats before those fornicating felines wreak havoc on our lovely town. How many more ferocious feral fiends do we need soiling the arroyo with fur, feces and filth?

Great advice. Dogs, too!

I live near the sports park and feral cats keep invading my yard.

I just made an appointment to get my cat spayed. Kittens, while very cute, can sometime be hard to give away.

I've seen people feeding the feral cats by the sports park. Is that legal?

Cats are available at TVAR or the local humane society. I've had great luck there

For the feral problem...Get your cats "chipped" and "fixed". Then go to the Alameda Animal Control. They will loan a humane trap for your use to snare those pesky feral cats.

Better advise...Cats do much better if they are indoors. Not an easy adjustment if yours is currently an outdoor cat.

Advantages:
No Fleas!
No trips to the vet for stitches [fighting]

I've had outdoor cats, in fact, that was usually the case. More recently, our cats have been indoor only. Requires more attention to them, but that's a good thing.

Apparently one unspayed cat can be responsible for 2000 cats within 5 years if you consider multiple litters and the litters of their progeny.

I was walking the Sports Park this weekend and saw a bunch of cats hanging out in the drainage canal near the vet. I thought this post was a joke, but there are indeed some wild cats down there. So, for what it's worth, spay your cats.

Just a reminder that cats should be spayed, especially now that spring has sprung.

" How many more ferocious feral fiends do we need soiling the arroyo with fur, feces and filth?"

A better question is how much of the above should I have to put up with in my own yard from the neighbor's cat that is always outside?

Answer -- not much more. Cat traps are out. Not sure where I will relocate the cat but it might have to spend a week or more in the trap before I get around to taking it out. Or, dear stupid neighbor, you could KEEP YOUR CAT INSIDE AND OUT OF MY YARD!

What exactly do you mean by "feeding the cats"?

It's always legal to befriend a cat.

You know, Cholo, feeding feeding. Meow Mix I think although it may well have been Whiskas. Definitely dry food. Have you seen the price of moist food?

One can soak the cat food in water for about 10-15 minutes and it softens...problem solved!

duh...

We are already overrun with feral cats, I certainly do not want them breeding. Disgusting, on our cars, in our car engines, screaming 'mating' calls with piercing screeches. Pests. Shame on anybody who feeds them. You don't have the right to lure them into pestering and DISTURBING your neighbors!!

Dear neighbor who lets her cat stay outside at night,

Your cat was in a trap for something like 3-5 days and was then taken to a shelter that is out of this area and is NOT a no kill shelter.

I asked and asked and asked that you keep this pest inside at night and out of my yard. You refused. Say goodbye to the cat, it is not coming back.

In many ways it would be better to take the owners to the shelter to be destroyed rather than the animals.

Yes, please do SPAY your precious little cats, and please keep them inside at night.

My plant beds have been dug up way too many times already, and I will not take it anymore.

I have some traps now, and the next one caught in my back yard will get a one way ticket to Manteca.

Case closed!
