So disappointed to hear he was removed as WG Principal. All I have to say is, thank you Mr Vranesh for all you did for our children and the WG community while serving as principal. We will miss you!

To the school board, we demand an explanation of what is behind this decision, we hope it is not a political related.

Hmmm-you should get your facts straight! What meeting did you attend? It was announced that he would no longer be principal at WG, but he was not fired! He is still on administrative leave so the saga goes on. This is how stupid rumors start-by someone clearly not listening to the facts.

Another vague email was sent to the parents at Walnut Grove. See below.

CK are you saying he wasn't fired? Because this email says WG is getting a new principal. Why a new principal (note the email doesn't say interim) if the old one wasn't fired?

I would like to thank you for your patience during the last few weeks. Last night, the Board of Trustees of the Pleasanton Unified School District held a special closed session and reported it had taken the following actions:

In a 4-1 vote, the board found merit to complaints against an administrator. The board instructed the superintendent to issue a written decision to the parties in this matter, and directed that a future meeting include an item on appointing a new principal of Walnut Grove Elementary School.

We remain very limited in our ability to discuss this case publicly, but I wanted you to be aware of the results of last night's meeting, which lasted late into the night. Personnel matters take time and involve numerous measures to protect the privacy of those who file complaints and those who are the subject of complaints.

Please know that I will continue to share information with you as the process and the rules permit. I will notify you of the details of the selection process for a new principal before it begins. In the meantime, I am grateful to the staff and families of Walnut Grove Elementary who ensure that our students continue to be provided stellar educational opportunities.

Sincerely,
Parvin Ahmadi
Superintendent
Pleasanton Unified School District

It's a very sad day at the Grove. I hope the teachers involved in this feel appropriately guilty. A career is ruined, trust is broken, and a solid community of staff and teachers is split apart. And for what?? Wishing JV the best and I trust in the end he will find something better.

To parents, teachers and community: Haven't you all thought that if the board "found merit to complaints" against Vranesh, and took a while to deliberate on this by looking at all sides, that there could just be SOMETHING that he did that was either illegal, unfair or plain wrong against human decency and professionalism?

I just wish to know more information so that I could understand the rationale behind all this.

(Posting edited by Pleasanton Weekly Online staff to remove inappropriate comments.)got what they wanted. Well played, well played ladies. Hopefully you will get another principal that caters to your every whim, since we all know that was NOT what JV did. He actually had prioroties like school safety and providing a healthy learning environment for the students. Perhaps the board should have delved into your past to see what skeletons lie in your closets. We know all too well what lurks in yours...

The board did not fire JV, but he will not return to WG. How could he possibly be expected to face his accusors everyday. He just might be tempted to call them horrible names again! Since that is what you accused him of, correct? Shame on you both for ruining the life and career of a man that has proven himself to be a good person over the course of his career and life. This entire debacle was based on a personal vendetta to get your way. Now you have it, at the cost of our children and their education! Good luck.

Hey, OUTCOME:

There are two ... teachers at WG, and I am pretty sure both of them are not involved in this. Please don't start naming teachers with their initials when you are not even sure who they are. Also, you do not know what really happened. Do you think the Board, Parvin and the District Office will dismiss a principal from his post due to mere "name calling?!" That's just giving Mr. Vranesh a great case or lawsuit against them district!

Also, this is not just about or because of the teacher's union. The Board, the lawyers, Parvin and everybody else were in on the decision on their own, and not because of the teacher's union. There were so many other personnel cases brought by the teacher's union to the district regarding other people in various schools in the history of PUSD, yet the Board, Parvin and the D.O. as a whole did not have to dismiss a principal or a teacher like this. Keep drinking the Kool-Aid Parent Insider. Most know exactly who the ... is that I am referring to ...Interesting that you think it is okay for JV's name to be slung thru the mud without the board even hearing a word from him until last night, But if you were an "insider" then I guess you would know that, wouldn't you? If you are implying that I should have faith in the board or Parvin, then you must have recently crawled out from underneath a rock. Have you been following the so-called "due-process"? Due process is when all parties involved are heard and each person's background and character is questioned and investigated. One doesn't become a horrible person over night. Weird that JV has an impeccable record.... And I cannot wait until the truth comes out, coming from a true insider. Enough guessing, let's talk facts. The school board hired an investigator to interview more than 12 teachers at WG. These 12 teachers gave statements, not 2 teachers. The report, which will be made public, found "credible evidence" from these 12+ interviews that JV had "engaged in the following prolonged conduct":

- used vulgar and derogatory language in reference to women (specifically "b.tch" and "c.nt").
- made repeated comments of a sexual nature
- used threatening and intimidating language
- used bullying tactics to get what he wanted
- abused his position of authority

These findings, summarized in over 26 pages of this investigators report, confirmed dozens of offenses that created a hostile workplace at Walnut Grove Elementary. No teacher should have to put up with this, and the board has voted to remove a toxic individual from Walnut Grove.

Unless you have access to real facts, sit back and wait. The entire report will be made public soon, and you will all get a chance to see and read how you've been deceived.

Ok, let's talk facts. Isn't it true that there were only 2 teachers that initially complained. The union then went looking for other teachers to jump on the grievance. I had understood that 4 or 5 teachers actually were part of filing a complaint.

Frankly, admittedly without knowing all the facts, this seems like something that should have been handled in a very different manner. What happened to performance counseling, performance improvement plan, notes in the personnel file, etc before its dragged into something like this. EVERYONE loses in this. Ask the question how much money has this cost the district to date? Lawyers, investigator hired by the lawyer, salary for an extra principal, etc and the district isn't done. Where are our district administrators? What is motivating them to handle it in this manner? This is money spent away from the classroom and does nothing to improve the credibility of the district in asking for another parcel tax or bond measure. Not too mention what it has to have done for morale both at WG and with district principals.

I have never met the man or had children at WG. I just can't help wondering if this could have been handled differently or is there more behind this?

JV Facts,
You say the entire report will be made public. When? And there will be names of accusers in this report? The 12 teachers have been able to hide behind their powerful union, while Mr. Vranesh's name has been dragged through the mud. If these are the facts, step up and step out.

@huh? Nope, the original complaint was filed by the union "on behalf of five female certificated employees". These are still facts that will be made public, not confidential information.

Counseling for the principal? Are you kidding? This isn't some paper pusher in a desk job. You want this kind of hostility around your children? Not me. He's supposed to be a Leader.

I don't believe any of the allegations against Vranesh and neither will the judge(s) when he sues these individuals, yes individuals, for defamation of character and collects several millions of dollars from them. If he had in fact been doing that for the last 13 years he has been with the District, it would have been discovered a long time ago, "bullying tactics" would have come to light a decade ago, parents and students would have also encountered it and would have reported this behavior. If it had been happening, teachers would have filed a complaint with the DFEH long long ago, but they didn't.

The accusing teachers, who according to reports did not even bother to show up last night for the closed session, are not showing up because of 'stress' because they know they have no credible supporting evidence and will spending the next decade in court.

The union retaliated against Vranesh because he complained about the safety of the campus caused by substandard performance of a union employee, who rallied the certificated union with two ... teachers who have complained, one with an ax to grind who was previously ...(Posting edited by Pleasanton Weekly Online staff to remove inappropriate comments.)

I, too, understand that the only teacher to participate in the closed session last night was the union president. Does that seem right that the accusers can hide behind the union president who doesn't teach at the school? Has she ever taught at a school where this man worked? Doesn't she have a dog in the fight as her job is to protect the union employees--don't let the facts get in the way? Its really hard for me to believe that someone can work in the district for a lot of years and all of the sudden these accusation are made.

JV Facts, my children have experienced some very inappropriate behavior in the classroom by a couple of teachers. To the point where parents of children in the classroom were calling me to make sure I knew what was happening. When I complained, I can assure you that the teacher was not put on administrative leave while an investigation took place. I was told it had to be documented and redocumented, etc i.e. union protections. That's why the way this is being handled makes me wonder if there's more behind this then the administration is letting on. We used the experience as a teaching moment for our child.

If this kind of hostility is around the children, then why aren't the parents complaining? That's what doesn't make any sense--no one other then a couple of teachers seem to have seen this hostility.

As an insider, I support the comments by Mean Girls and the Outcome. There is alot of toxic behavior at WG. One of the problems is that there has been up to ten teachers/substitutes/yard duty women who are moms at that school at one time. ... JV, remember the cream always rises. During my Nov. parent conference, my child's teacher acknowledged the low morale and apparent toxicity brought about by the situation. She assured me that there are still many teachers in WG who do their best to teach the children and not let the situation affect them. As long as they have jurisdiction over the four corners of their classrooms, it is good teaching and learning as usual for these good teachers and the kids. And I believe her as I see how my child loves her class and how she is learning cutting-edge and motivating lessons.

I continue to support the good teachers at WG, and there are still many of them. I will not let this situation affect my overall high regard for WG.

This goes out to the person spouting off JV Facts.
Yes the district hired a private investigator. Being paid for by the district this private investigator will make the outcome of their investigation any way the district wants it. After all they are paying them.
The investigator interviewed more than 12 teachers. How nice for the accusers that these were 12 teachers of their choice. What about the rest of the staff? Why were they not interviewed if you wanted a true picture of the man that was being accused?
These women that were obviously very angry with JV and are very intelligent women.
-They chose things to accuse him of that could not be proven. They say he used vulgar and derogatory language in reference to women using "b.tch & c.nt"
-Those of us that truly know JV know that he would never and I mean never use that kind of language.
-made repeated comments of a sexual nature. When and how was this supposed to have happened when he was constantly down at the district office for meetings or dealing with students?
-used threatening and intimidating language. I guess "No" could be taken as threatening and intimidating by those that don't want to hear that word.
- used bullying tactics to get what he wanted. He didn't have to bully anyone to get what he wanted. He was the principal which makes him in charge.
-abused his position of authority. I guess if trying his hardest to make the best interest of the students at Walnut Grove his top priority than abuse that authority!
-How much was spent on this private investigator that obviously only investigated the side of the accusers. I could write a 26 page document and make it sound like JV was on the verge of killing someone. That doesn't make it true.
-Again, these women are very intelligent, they turned on the water works, had to go home because of the stress and got others to jump on the band wagon. I almost felt bad for them. However, they accomplished their goal, they got the man that would not let them have their way out on accusations that would never have held up in a court of law.
-The things that JV has been accused of are completely absurd! Anyone that knows him knows that he is not that kind of person. He is a man with a good heart. This man has more integrity than any of you know.
-If he was truly the way the accusers are saying he is then why hasn't he had these complaints from the other schools he has worked at? You don"t just get out of bed one day and say "hey I'm going to sexually harass some women teachers today and call them b.tches and c.nts"
-FYI the board did not remove a toxic individual from Walnut Grove. The Toxic individuals are still there.

Please stop all of these toxic comments; our community has suffered enough without tearing it apart further.

The WG teachers and staff care tremendously for our students, and I am thankful for all of their efforts to put the children first. Thank you, WG teachers and staff, for soldiering on during this difficult period in our school. Please know that there are many of us parents who support you and who do not believe that you would gang up on a principal with unfounded accusations just to tear him down.

We wish that the school district was able to release more details so that everyone could form opinions on facts, rather than rumors. Unfortunately, at this point, I am doubtful that any report or details would be sufficient to appease the individuals who have already determined that there is a conspiracy at hand.

Bravo Reality!!! This whole witch hunt has been a travesty.

After 10 weeks of paying an investigator, the investigator never spoke with Mr. Vranesh as part of the "investigation"! Really? Isn't an investigator supposed to try to get ALL the facts? Not just the facts that support the conclusion the district has already decided to make? Mr. Vranesh got 2 hours to give his side of the story at the special board meeting, on the day that the vote/decision was made after hours of investigation, conversation, discussion building a case against him by petty teachers who finally were not getting their way.

Sorry, but I would believe Mr. Vranesh with a stellar 13 year record over a handful of teachers at a school known for having difficult prima donna teachers (not all, but the ones involved are enough to be worried about).

Yep...admins be very scared - you do not have the support of your district office. The board and district office are firmly in the clutches of the teachers' union who can and will make up un-provable complaints to get their way...or continue to get their way.

If I had an incoming Kindergartner, I would open enroll to another close by school for next year. Toxic is a good word - not Mr. Vranesh, but the teachers involved. I wouldn't want that kind of environment for my kids!

Way to go Mrs. Arkin...you have gone up leaps and bounds in my opinion.

Obviously JV Facts is the teacher union rep.or one of JV's accusers. By the way, I am disgusted by the teacher's union and the way they tried to take JV down at any cost. So the district hired a PI - the DISTRICT hired him. Okay, so right off the bat JV is against the wall. And they interviewed 12 teachers at WG? Um last time I checked we have about double that number so why weren't those ladies interviewed too? Nice job on getting a clear, solid, picture of the situation (not!).
The school will go down the drain. Parents are REALLY pissed off that these teachers would lie. Good luck raising money and getting parents to pony up! It's not going to happen. WG will never be a good school, ever again. And with these "princess" teachers we have, we are SO screwed! Now that their names are out in the open, everyone I know is requesting not to have them. They should probably switch schools and save themselves the embarassment of having an empty classroom. And what principal in their right mind is going to take a job working with these psycho women? He/she better lawyer up the minute he steps on campus because they are a bunch of sharks.
These terrible accusations were totally fabricated and made up!! All because the teachers didn't get their way. 13 years in the district with NOT ONE mark on his record and JV decides one day he's going to sexually harass someone? Give me a break! The teachers at PMS and Foothill absolutely speak extremely high of him in every regard, and always talk about his professionalistm and such. If he is the kind of many you are accusing him of, we would have heard aobut it from other colleagues of his. And guess what, we haven't! Because he ISN'T that kind of man. It simply is not in his makeup. The teachers had been used to getting their way for many many years and JV came in and acted as he should, as the principal and leader of the school. There can only be one chef in the kitchen ladies, sorry! I've lost respect for all of you and am looking to transfer schools for my two daughters, like most of my friends. I don't want you as a role model for my girls, I am sickened by you. WG will never see a dime from my family, ever, ever again.

These boards are ridiculous. There are many at WG that support and trust our teachers. Those that don't should probably just move to another school. Not everybody is so angry. The people who write into this are not an accurate reflection of the majority of the parents at the school. The angry people are the ones taking the time to write here but there are over 1000 parents of children at WG who are saddened by this but still support our teachers, even the ones named.

Just one serious accusation is enough to be a concern. If more than 12 teachers reported the same abusive behavior then that's more than enough evidence. You seem to be saying that the accusations are invalid unless all the female staff are unanimous in reporting the same behavior, which is a ridiculous stand.

As for JV's alleged use of foul words, if enough teachers report the same consistent behavior then that is strong evidence. As for your claim that "Those of us that truly know JV know that he would never and I mean never use that kind of language", I've often heard the same sort of claims made for those who are later revealed to have been guilty of exactly the crimes that they were accused of. Some people display one face to the public, and another behind closed doors. You don't know what may have happened behind closed doors. Only JV and the women involved know that.

I hate to have to put in this support for the "anti-JV" side, because with the limited information available the best course is to maintain a neutral attitude. But I think that many of the "pro-JV" posts here go way over the line.

We are not a Walnut Grove family but you would have to have your head in the sand to see that the district as a whole is in a free fall. Valley Christian, Quarry Lane, etc. are looking really intriguing right about now. I only wish we had more choices in private education. There is certainly a plethora on the peninsula and interestingly enough their public schools are exponentially better as well. One thing is for sure, PUSD isn't going to get one more dime from me nor a yes vote on a parcel tax. That money is better spent on private tutoring, etc.
