Cold snap comes to Pleasanton starting today

Original post made on Dec 3, 2013

Higher-than-normal temperatures over Thanksgiving weekend will end this week as a cold snap heading for the Bay Area is expected to blanket the region by midweek, according to the National Weather Service. A drastic drop in temperature is predicted around the Bay Area by Wednesday, with daytime highs and nighttime lows expected to drop up to 15 degrees, forecaster Diana Henderson said.

Ignorance is bliss! Global warming affects the entire planet with fluctuating and extreme weather conditions. We here in Pleasanton are not immune to it. If you don't think we've already been experiencing that, maybe you should read up on the catastrophic weather we've had in the last few years all over the planet. It might be in our neighborhood soon. When was the last time that we dropped 15 degrees in one day, only to experience below freezing cold weather for almost a week?

Yes, Harold, a cold snap proves that there is no such thing as global warming. Thanks for your incisive observation.

pkg,
I have lived in Pleasanton for over 30 years. I can assure you there have been many times that we have had a 15 degree drop from one day to the next. Pleasanton's temperatures can change very quickly depending on whether the air movement is coming off the ocean or the the desert. And, when we have a cold front moving down from the Artic, as we are now, the temperature drops dramatically. Blaming a 15 degree change on global warming is way off track.

Also, when you are "reading up" (sic) on catastrophic storms you should look at some actual historical data, rather than listening to the politically-biased cr#p put out by the left wing media. That would likely be an enlightening experience for you.

To "Not...",

At least you didn't say that it is ARROGANT to say that anything man could do would ever change the weather. That is of course a ridiculous sentiment, and I don't know why people repeat it.

Global warming is exactly what it is. May I politely suggest that if some of you do not understand Global Warming, that you ask a polite polar bear.

i rest my case...

I don't give two hoots what the liberal media says. And what are they saying? That there are two sides to the issue of global warming.

And what do scientists say? 98% of them (the other 2% are employed by toxic polluters) say that global warming is here and is caused by man's assault upon our natural environment. In other words, there is no 'two sides' about it.

But you know what? I don't give two hoots what scientists say. Because all they're trying to do is lower the return on my investments in oil and chemicals.

This should not be a political issue. Did that start just because Al Gore chose to talk about it, so suddenly the Right-wing media goes into some sort of denial and defense mode? My brother in law has a PHD in some type of science and has contributed research on global warming. He is adamant it is very real and scary. And guess what, he is a Republican who lives in the Midwest. Our grandchildren and great-grandchildren will be massively effected by this... And I guess it's easier to pretend its not real, but you are being kind of a jerk to your descendants who are the ones who will suffer. And no, one cold snap in Pleasanton or even few warm California winters are insignificant to the big picture.

To The Global Warming Huggers That Posted Here:

All I said to "pkg" was that a 15 degree drop in temperature from one day to the next had little to nothing to do with global warming. That kind of a swing in temperature in Pleasanton is actually common.

The subsequent postings here a typical global warming zealot outcry, which was completely out in the weeds from the subject of the news article which was that it reached 24 degrees. If you folks think hitting 24 degrees in Pleasanton is due to global warming you are seriously mistaken. I have seen it reach 10 degrees in Pleasanton and that also had little or nothing to due to with global warming.

BTW, if Al Gore is seriously interested in global warming and the environment, he should sell his 30,000 square foot mansion, quit flying around in his own personal 737, and clean up his own Super Fund Site environmental disaster mining operations in Tennessee. The guy is a walking (waddling?) blabbing hypocrite.

The whole climate change belief system went from pseudo-science, to politics, to religion, over the past 30 years. (shortly after the next ice age was declared in the mid-70's in Time magazine).
For those warming zealots that like to site cause and effect, read up on how this year's hurricane season (which was predicted to be nearly the worst ever--fear-mongering much?) turned out to be the quietest in nearly 40 years.
Even in the recent U.N climate meeting, participants had to relucantly admit there has been no 'warming' over the past 15 years. Their quest to redistribute money to poorer countries based on their climate change quest is starting to wear thin with non-beleivers who see this scam for what it is. Their hope was to get the useful idiots, who bought the premise for this scam, to push for legislation and regulations that would wrest control of a major portion of our economy (similar to what obamacare's goals are). Once this was done, they would be able to control most aspects of your lives and those of your employers (should they still be able to stay in business.
It's ironic that many of the glassy-eyed lemmings that grew up in the 60's and 70's preaching freedom and a 'if it feels good, do it' philosophy, are the same alarmist followers who now believe your freedom can only be tolerated if your lifestyle matches their utopian socialist beliefs (faith).
In the meantime, algore has a mansion near the beach, where he claimed sea levels would rise by 30 feet. You can't make this stuff up......

Oh boy, I found some intellectual soulmates here. Forget about that bloviating blowhard Al Gore, its the world's so-called scientific community that we have should be criticizing. They criticize what's happening to the planet, but they continue to live on the planet! They're no longer doing science. All our scientists are now sudo-scientists who don't have a clue. If they don't like the world the Almighty God has given us, they ought to build a fancy high-pants rocket and zoom out of here. Hypocrits, all of them. What really burns my keester is that my taxes goes to sudo-science research. What has happened to us? Where is God? Why isn't he in the classroom where he belongs? And why aren't scientists complaining about future generations having to pay for my nextdoor neighbor's outrageous pension plan just because he worked for the city?

Prove that "Climate Change" is the "correct" terminology. If you can't PROVE it, then anybody can say what they please and you will understand what they are referring to. Life requires flexibility. It's about accepting life on life's terms.

You seem to understand what others are saying or you wouldn't have offered you opinion...duh...if too uncomfortable with what folks are saying...the pray hard cause you're gonna need something to get over being so uptight.

i rest my case...
