Pleasanton Chamber honors businesses, individuals for community contributions
Nearly 200 join in festivities for annual awards

| The Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce honored individuals, organizations and businesses at its 50th annual Community Service Awards event Thursday night at the Firehouse Arts Center.
The 3-1/2-hour event included gourmet food stations, entertainment vignettes and silent and live auctions as the Chamber recognized this year's honorees.
Those honored were 1st United Services Credit Union for business philanthropy; Simpson Strong-Tie for excellence in business; volunteers serving the Pleasanton Police Department for excellence in service; the Clorox Co. and Cafe Main for their green business achievements, and the Regional Food Storage Facility in the distinguished city initiative category.Are you receiving Express, our free daily e-mail edition? Posted by anon, a resident of the Another Pleasanton neighborhood neighborhood, on Mar 18, 2013 at 9:12 am I always wonder why adults need awards/ceremonies for their volunteer work. I give of my time (and money when I have it) and expect nothing but a "thank you for your help". I would prefer the money used to put on these functions or to pay for plaques stay in the coffers and be used to help those needing the organizations in the first place.
