Heavy winds continue to drench Pleasanton this morning with power outages reported in parts of the city, though mostly in the upper Vintage Hills and surrounding neighborhoods east of downtown.

The storm and fallen trees have resulted in more than 15,000 PG&E customers being without power across the Bay Area this morning.

In addition to Pleasanton, more than 4,500 PG&E customers in the Peninsula area, 3,700 in the South Bay area and 7,600 in the North Bay area are without power this morning, according to PG&E.

The National Weather Service and other agencies have issued various warnings and advisories for the onslaught of rain and wind.

Starting at 7 p.m. Thursday night a flash flood watch went into effect in the coastal North Bay and mountainous areas, parts of the Monterey Bay area, the Peninsula and Santa Cruz Mountains because of several inches of rain expected to fall in those areas, according to the National Weather
Service.

The watch is set to remain in place through this afternoon.

This morning several severe weather advisories will be issued throughout the region.

Starting at 8 a.m. a wind advisory is in place for strong and gusty winds blowing through with the potential to knock down trees and power
lines.

Along the coast, gusts could reach up to 50 mph.

The advisory is expected to expire at 2 p.m. today.

A high surf advisory along the Bay Area coast will also be issued at 9 a.m. today and continue through 4 a.m. Saturday.

Swells are anticipated to reach up to 16 feet, and local beaches may experience rip currents and erosion from the strong waves and surf.

Thursday afternoon, the California Highway Patrol issued a high wind advisory around 1:10 p.m. on the Golden Gate Bridge. The CHP continues to advise motorists use caution while crossing the span.
