S.F. hospital seeks $1.2 million from L.A. Dodgers to pay for Giants' fan's treatment
Bryan Stow's family also suing team in connection with 2011 attack

San Francisco General Hospital is seeking more than $1.2 million from the Los Angeles Dodgers for outstanding medical bills in the case of Bryan Stow, a San Francisco Giants fan severely injured in an attack after the team's season opener in Los Angeles last year.

The request to include the hospital as a creditor in the lawsuit against the Dodgers was made and accepted last week in federal bankruptcy court, according to court records.

Stow's family is also suing the team in connection with the March 31, 2011, attack outside Dodger Stadium. Stow suffered a severe head injury, from which he is still recovering.

San Francisco General Hospital has about $1.21 million in unpaid bills related to its treatment of Stow, who was at the hospital from May to October 2011, when he was transferred to a eehabilitation facility, hospital spokeswoman Rachael Kagan said Monday.

Two men, Louie Sanchez and Marvin Norwood, were arrested months after the attack and are currently awaiting trial.

Since the attack, Stow's family has been updating his condition online at www.support4bryanstow.com and posted a new message Monday saying that he recently underwent surgery to address extra bone growth in his hips and will require additional surgery to remove extra bone growth in other joints.

"As you can imagine, surgery for Bryan means a big step back," the family wrote. "It will limit his therapies and cause him a lot of pain for the next 4 to 6 weeks."
