Suspicious package detonated at Pleasanton BART station at Hacienda

Unattended package deemed harmless; station reopens at 11 a.m. Friday

BART's Dublin/Pleasanton station has reopened after a suspicious package found on the platform was detonated and deemed harmless Friday morning, BART officials said.

A train operator noticed an unattended package on the platform around 7:30 a.m. and alerted BART police, BART officials said.

The end-of-the-line station on Owens Drive was closed at about 7:45 a.m., BART and Pleasanton police officials said.

As of 9:25 a.m., an Alameda County Sheriff's Office bomb squad detonated the package and determined it did not contain explosives, BART officials said.

The bomb squad cleaned up debris from the detonation and collected evidence from the platform before reopening the station shortly before 11 a.m., BART officials said.

The station closure was not affecting service on other lines, according to BART officials.

Trains were going to the West Dublin/Pleasanton station and turning around, BART officials said.

Buses transported passengers between the Dublin/Pleasanton and West Dublin/Pleasanton stations through the Wheels bus service operated by the Livermore Amador Valley Transit Authority, BART officials said.

[Removed because it was misleading information stated as fact.] But no matter - let's do what Obama, Kerry and the liberal media tell us: keep celebrating Islamic "diversity," root for Hamas to destroy Israel and hope that Sharia law will become the law of the land.

Right on William. You absolutely nailed it. Obama, Kerry and liberal media are also behind extending BART from Oakland into our neck of the woods.

William and Right, please tell me which part of this article tells you this was an islamic act??!!! You got to love how prejudiced people are! This was probably just a bag forgotten by a "pure" white caucasian red neck but let's blame the muslims. This is so much easier. Before being so biased, go educate yourself first on what is really happening in the world. I thought people in Pleasanton were smarter than that.

@LS - please Google "troll" and "sarcasm" and maybe "parody". There are many posters on these forums who simply spew forth words to simply stir the pot. A good rule of thumb is "Don't feed the trolls".

@LS You cannot be serious. You LS just stated in writing "You got to love how prejudiced people are! This was probably just a bag forgotten by a "pure" white caucasian red neck" You use a racist and prejudiced statement to denounce racism and prejudice. Now maybe the crowd you run with are too stupid to put that together but most people are not. feel free to apoligize to the caucasion community anytime. Are you going to call people the n word next. Wow and you dont feel embarrassed to put that in writing. I have seen alot of ridiculously stupid statements on here but this one takes the cake.
How do you know it was a redneck. Sounds prejudice.

Your so right on Pleasant was nice 40 years ago. LS needs to apologize to the caucasion community. After generation after generation of being discriminated against, being at the bottom of the economic ladder, disproportionately imprisoned for questionable wrongdoings, we need to adopt more understanding towards the caucasions. All caucasions should unite and write there congressman for reperations. Something has to be done about the racial imbalance in this country where caucasions just never seem to get a fair shake. This heenous condition will only continue as long as there are people like LS around.

@burt I guess people shouldn't apologize to white people when they use a racial slur. I am sure only people of color deserve this common courtesy. If you study your history you will find all races have discriminated against other races and enslaved other races. this is not unique to the caucasions. Are you saying its ok to be racist as long as you are not white? that in itself is racist. If you want to support LS comments feel free. Time to take a side either for racism or against racism regardless of the skin color. red neck is a racially offensive term. So i will ask you, do you support the phrase "pure white caucasion red neck". If so then you are a racist
