Prosecutors allege Tri-Valley golf pro facing child sex abuse counts plotted to kill victims

Livermore defendant now charged with solicitation of murder

An award-winning Livermore golf instructor who faces 75 felony counts for allegedly sexually abusing three boys he had been teaching is now charged with trying to hire a hit man to murder them.

Andrew M. Nisbet, 32, wrote letters from his cell at the Santa Rita Jail in Dublin expressing interest in having the boys "taken care of," Alameda County District Attorney Inspector Jeff McCort alleged in a probable cause statement.

McCort said, "From my training and experience that means he is asking to have the victims killed."

Authorities learned of the alleged plot on Feb. 25 when a confidential informant brought them to the attention of a sheriff's deputy at Santa Rita, according to McCort.

Nisbet pleaded not guilty to the child sex abuse charges earlier that month.

In March, a DA's inspector who posed as a hit man visited Nisbet in jail in a meeting that was secretly recorded, prosecutors said.

The undercover agent told Nisbet that he was a mechanic and could fix a car and "made a pistol shooting motion with his hand," McCort said, explaining that the term mechanic often is used to mean a hit man or a contract killer.

Nisbet told the agent that there were two "cars" or victims and that one lived in Santa Barbara and one lived in Pleasanton, according to McCort.

Nisbet mouthed the name of the victim in Santa Barbara and said the victim in Pleasanton could be found easily, McCort alleged.

Nisbet agreed that he would provide the undercover agent with money "to prove that he was serious," the inspector alleged.

McCort said on March 18 he got a search warrant to inspect Nisbet's cell and found a letter with driving directions to the home of the alleged victim in Pleasanton as well as "many other letters" from Nisbet to the confidential informant discussing the murder-for-hire plot.

McCort wrote, "It appears through Nisbet's letters to and from the confidential informant as well as his conversation with the undercover agent that he is serious about having the victims killed in exchange for money."

Nisbet, who was arrested on Dec. 7, faces a total of 75 felony counts alleging that he sexually abused the three boys.

The charges against him include oral copulation by force, oral copulation with a minor, lewd and lascivious acts with a minor, distribution or exhibition of lewd material to a minor and arranging a meeting with a minor for the purpose of engaging in lewd and lascivious behavior.

The alleged victims are boys between the ages of 12 and 17, according to Livermore police.

On Tuesday, prosecutors added three felony counts of solicitation of murder.

Nisbet was arrested shortly before he was to receive the 2013 Junior Golf Leader Award from the PGA's Northern California Section.

PGA officials cited Nisbet "for his dedication and leadership in developing a wealth of exciting and educational golf programs for juniors."

Nisbet taught at the Las Positas Golf Course in Livermore and for the past five years he has helped plan and run the U.S. Kids Golf World Championships in Pinehurst, N.C.

What an idiot. How scary for the victims to know this guy is trying to put a "hit" out on them. I hope they notified the victims they were/are being targeted.

I hope they don't let any mail go out of the jail from this guy without properly screening it first.

Loser...deserves to be behind bars for life.

well well well...spooky...schools owe it to children/families to protect all students...how did this guy slip through the cracks...he must be way sneaky...students and their families need to know who their children are spending time with...it doesn't matter if the adult is a a trusted friend...parents need to keep up to date with what's happening in the lives of their children or sexual abuse in schools will continue...talk talk talk to your children...so sad that students were abused and followed by the intent to murder them...terrifying

PROTECT AMERICAN CHILDREN/STUDENTS. PROTECT CHILDREN FROM HARM.

OMG I am so horrified and shocked. He obviously is a very sick individual. You would think he would be in jail and feeling remorseful. Instead of getting hit men after his victims. I hope the FBI is involved in this and protects the children and the families from this predator. How is he able to do all this in jail? He should no longer have contact from the outside world except for his unfortunate lawyer. I pray for the families and God protect them from more harm. Hopefully they are loved and true healing can begin. Please keep this predator out of the public.

Well, now, hold on just a second. This guy is looking at some serious time behind bars if convicted, so it shouldn't come as a surprise that he'd try his best to make the problem go away.

I feel that the authorities should be commended for being on the ball here.

With the liberal judges in this socialist state, my guess is that this pathetic perp will do very little time behind bars. Then when he gets out, he will be given a nice professorship position at a university.
