Pleasanton police pulled a driver out of his overturned vehicle on Sunol Boulevard during last night's evening rush hour.
At about the same time, two cars collided with major damage to both vehicles and injuries to at least one of the drivers at Bernal and Vineyard avenues near Tawny Drive and the Vintage Hills Shopping Center, also blocking that intersection temporarily.
Paramedics arrived within minutes to help police rescue the driver in the overturned vehicle and to determine the extent of injuries, if any.
The 1-car rollover occurred shortly after 5 p.m. near the entrance to Life Technologies at 6055 Sunol Boulevard.
In the accident at Bernal and Vineyard avenues, the vehicles had to be towed away as police re-routed Vineyard Avenue traffic coming from downtown. The intersection was partially blocked for more than two hours.
The identities of the motorists involved have not been released by the police department.
