Advisories have been issued to commuters and employers by the city of Pleasanton and BART to help them cope with the strike.
While many in Pleasanton do not ride BART to/from work, a strike will impact traffic throughout the Bay Area.
Employees who depend on BART have the following options:
511 RideMatch Service
Ridesharing is an obvious choice. 511 Rideshare can help employees get to work by helping them find or start a carpool or vanpool. Commuters are encouraged to use the free 511 RideMatch Service at http://rideshare.511.org/.
This online program matches commuters with similar routes and schedules to find carpool partners or a vanpool group. Upon receiving your commute matches, simply contact the people on the list to make arrangements. Commuters can also call 511 and say "Rideshare".
During the BART strike, Altamont Corridor Express (ACE), along with Capital Corridor will offer the following schedule into the East Bay area. For more information, contact ACE Rail Customer Service Department at 1-800-411-7245.
Westbound Morning Train:
ACE riders who need a transfer into the East Bay would arrive to the Fremont Station on ACE #03 at 7:10 a.m. Typically the Capital Corridor Train #524 would depart from Fremont at 7:11 a.m. However, Capital Corridor has been allowed to hold at the Fremont Station up to 5 minutes to allow passenger enough time to transfer. The train would be held no later than 7:16 a.m. If passengers cannot make the transfer the next available train would be Capital Corridor #528 at 9:38 a.m. from Fremont.
Eastbound Evening Train:
Passengers needing a connection to the Tri-Valley Area in the evening would take Capital Corridor #543 into Fremont, arriving into Fremont at 6:09 p.m. ACE #08 is scheduled to depart from Fremont at 6:05 p.m. However ACE #08 is allowed to wait 7 minutes and depart at 6:12 p.m. to allow time to transfer. If passengers cannot make the transfer the next available train would be ACE #10 at 7:08 p.m.
