The city of Dublin has started the preparation work for the solar arrays which will be located at the Civic Center.
The crews successfully transplanted the trees in the parking lots to new locations in the surrounding the Dublin Sports Grounds. Construction of the arrays will commence following the tree removal and will continue through mid-May.
During the construction period, only half of the parking spaces closest to City Hall will be available at any given time. The parking for the Library will be maintained as usual and additional parking is available at the Dublin Sports Grounds.
This project is part of the comprehensive citywide energy efficiency upgrades that are already underway. The street light retrofit project has been completed for the community, which successfully retrofitted all cobra-head streetlight fixtures throughout the City, replacing approximately 3,100 light fixtures in total.
In addition to the solar panels being installed at the Library and Civic Center and the neighborhood streetlight upgrades, several energy upgrade projects are planned throughout the City including the upgrade of irrigation systems at local parks, as well as the heating and cooling systems at City-owned buildings ultimately resulting in substantial energy savings.
