The 18th Annual Pooch Parade will take place on Wednesday, Aug. 5 at Lions Wayside Park. This event runs in conjunction with the "1st Wednesday Street Party" sponsored by the Pleasanton Downtown Association. Registration and judging will be from 5:30-7 p.m., trick dogs will perform at 6:30 p.m. The parade begins at 7 p.m. Winners and raffle numbers will be announced at Lions Wayside Park starting at 7:45 p.m. Enter your pooch, any size 4 months or older, in any or all of the seven categories for great prizes. For California's foster kids, going back to school often means starting at a new school. To ease their first-day jitters, Sleep Train is hosting its School Supply Drive for Foster Kids now through Aug. 9 at any Sleep Train location.
The Pleasanton-Tulancingo Sister City Association annual BBQ fundraiser will be from 5:30-11 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 22 at the Pleasanton Senior Center. Featuring Tony Machiano's famous "Lickity Spit" BBQ dinner, live and silent auctions, music and dancing. Advance ticket purchase recommended. Tickets are $40.
